Old Saddler's Cottage is ten miles north of Keswick, just beyond Bassenthwaite, and close to Armathwaite and Overwater Hall. The cottage is superbly placed, directly opposite The Lion Inn, which is a marvelous pub serving home-cooked food and real ales. Two minutes down the road in Uldale is The Snooty Fox. The Caldbeck Fells surround Ireby, and Skiddaw is also nearby.

Further afield, all the attractions of Cumbria and the Lake District are easily reached, as are the beaches of the Solway Coast, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, Scotland and the Eden Valley.
