Ireby Keswick hill walking England's Lake District is ideal as a hill walking environment, with idyllic rambles around the lakes themselves. Some walks are easy, others more challenging, such as the famous routes like Jack's Rake, Striding Edge or Sharp Edge.Wainwright's walking guides are an excellent aid to planning your journeys. The large variety of mountains, walks and scrambles are all found within a reasonably compact area. The Lakes definitely offer some of the most enjoyable rambles in the country. Routes vary from lake side circuits, to waterfalls and isolated tarns, and from secret streams to the wild peaks at Scafell Pike and Helvellyn. Keep to the paths where possible. |
